The next stop is Welfare Square Cannery. Here applesauce, spaghetti sauce, salsa, raspberry, peach, and strawberry jams are canned. There are 3 labels: Deseret is sent to the Bishop's Storehouse - it is the brand money cannot buy. The family canning label is for people who come and serve then purchase what they can. The humanitarian label is for projects where individuals or groups fund products that are distributed to charities.

There is also a family canning center where non-perishable items are canned and purchased by the family. The wheat in the grain elevator (pictured above) is rotated every 5-7 years and usually is given away; but, our Prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley encouraged this rotation be stored in the members homes. Here the wheat is canned for long-term storage that will last up to 30 years.
