President and Sister Stewart are so awesome. They are the best. They are working hard right up to the very last day. Elder Millet and I helped Sister Stewart take the last boxes from her office and it was hard to say "Goodby." President Stewart was too busy all day to stop for a picture. What great examples.

Brother Peterson's legacy lives on. Marie and Janet made this quilt from squares he cut from jeans. The striped backing has all the colors of the squares. It was for a service auction in their ward. The details of the auction sounded interesting. We need to know more.

Alenda liked the quilt so well that she bid on it and is now the happy owner. Good work Marie and Janet. Now they plan to make one for everyone on their list. I'm glad I'm on the list.

Our garden was such a wonderful project. We ate our first tomatoes on July 25, 2008. We have eaten lot and lots and lots of tomatoes and cottage cheese over the last 5 months. January 12, 2009 was a sad day when we ate the last tomato. Can Spring be too far away? We are ready to plant another larger garden.

Elder Millet was on Priesthood Support and went to the Legacy Theater to check on things and there was Rick and Kerry Booth from Ephrata. I met them after the movie and we had a delightful time together. They were on an extended trip to visit their children and we were glad they stopped on Temple Square.

We hope to see YOU on Temple Square soon. Please remember to look us up. Any Senior Couple can help you find us. Ask - don't just wander.

Elder Millet has had his eye on the gingerbread house Marie gave us for Christmas and finally got to eat it.

And, yes, he ate the whole house!

Lori's girls were in Washington with their father for Christmas vacation. They got home in time to see the lights on Temple Square and enjoy a short visit. Kelsey, Lori and Nichole.

It's great to live in the country. This deer was sighted in Marie and Jolley's neighborhood in Providence, Utah.
The snow was deep and it was cold but we enjoyed a tour of the Salt Lake Cemetary. President Stewart lived and grew up here as his step-father was cemetary sexton for many years. It was fun to hear his stories. In addition to seeing the graves of the Presidents of the Church and many other great people in Church history this was our favorite.

The young boy who is buried here had muscular distrophy in his young life and his grave marker shows him triumphantly leaving his wheel chair. It was very touching.
The Sisters took turns giving brief biographries of each President. What a great day.

Gordon B. Hinckley - fifteenth President.

The snow was deep so Howard W. Hunter - fourteenth President is seen by telephoto lens.

Spencer W. Kimball - twelfth President. Ezra Taft Benson was buried in Whitney, Idaho - thirteenth President.

Joseph Fielding Smith - tenth President. Harold B. Lee is buried in Clifton, Idaho - eleventh President.

David O. McKay, ninth President.

George Albert Smith, eighth President.

This really is Heber J. Grant - seventh President.

Joseph F. Smith - sixth President.

Wilford Woodruff - fourth President. Lorenzo Snow was not buried in the Salt Lake Cemetary - fifth President.

John Taylor - Third President and first to be buried in the Salt Lake Cemetary. Joseph Smith was buried in Nauvoo, Illinois and Brigham Young was buried in a private cemetary in Salt Lake.

Memorial to Hyrum Smth, brother of the Prophet Joseph Smith.

Orrin Porter Rockwell was the bodyguard of Joseph Smith.

The Sisters sent thank you notes for the Christmas quilts. Each note was wonderful and heartwarming. We are so fortunate to work with a group of powerful, spiritual, and beautiful Sister Missionaries. Also, Sister Stewart is such an inspiration to me. Her organization to make Christmas special for everyone and to follow through with appreciation was outstanding.

The comment about making your Mother proud refers to the little tag that goes on each quilt we make: "Velma K. Morey - 1915-1998 - In loving memory of my dear mother"

Special thank you notes from the Mission Presidency for the Christmas Program.
We attend Church at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building Chapel. It is awesome as you can see.

The Senior Bell Choir accompanied the Christmas Carols. In this picture the Senior Singers are performing "Mary's Little Boy Child" and the Bell Choir is standing on the stage so they could sing with them. The other Carols were accompanied on the Chapel floor in front of the podium.

Each Zone performed a number. This is the Legacy Zone singing "Away in a Manger." All the groups did very well even though we had only 10 days to put it all together. We had a delicious Christmas dinner and then enjoyed the Christmas Program. What a lovely day.
