Music and the Spoken Word really outdid themselves this morning. The colors for their Fourth of July program were beautiful. During the program the stripes changed to clouds and then blue stars over the gold organ pipes. It was outstanding. Notice the stars on the sides of the stripes. From where we were seated it was hard to include them in the picture.

Jenny Oaks Baker gave a violin concert that was wonderful. All the numbers were dances and many taken from great movies. She was accompanied by her nephew Jared Oaks. What a delight.
(2609)

Jenny's father and Jared's grandfather, Elder Dallin H. Oaks attended the concert. I shook hands with he and Elder L. Tom Perry who also attended.
(2610)

After shaking hands with the General Authorities I turned around and there were President and Sister Robert Bauman. He was our Mission President when we served in the Oakland California Mission. It was so wonderful to see them. They are super people.

We spent the morning at the MTC in Provo getting an overview of the Referral Manager. What a great experience this was. We are excited for our call to supervise the Referral Center and to realize the great potential of the internet in doing missionary work.

The best part of the meeting was lunch at the MTC cafeteria. Left side of the table: Elder Millet, Sister Millet, Elder Palmer, Sister Palmer, Brandon Jackson. Right: Daniel Ware, Sister Palfreyman, President Palfreyman, Sister Giang, Sister Maatta.

Brothers Ware and Jackson head the Referral Center at the MTC. Sisters Maatta and Giang head the Referral Center at Temple Square. We are taking Elder and Sister Palmer's place and President Palfreyman is Second Counselor in the Mission Presidency.

While at the MTC we pointed out our mission on the huge map.

Elder Millet did not know hollyhocks. We have watched them grow tall in the Beehive House garden, bud, and now blossom. Remember when we made "dancing girls" out of the blossoms? The colors are beautiful.

The baby quail have hatched and are so cute. When taking pictures today we saw the mom and dad hop up a step and the little guy ran back and forth in panic. Later we saw them all together again. Cute, cute.

Elder Millet had his 71st birthday on June 20. He had lots of well wishes, an ice cream social at Leatherbys (and I didn't even take a picture). Lori and Joette loaded him with gifts: 2 ties, his favorite See's chocolates, mixed nuts, and pistachios delivered by Rhett, Kimball, and Lori.

Happy Birthday Elder Millet.

Wow! Our garden is doing great. We have already had 3 pickings of broccoli, our tomatoes are loaded with little ones and our squash is blooming.

Elder Millet noticed this interesting view of the temple shadowed by the Church Office Building. We are so fortunate to live in such a wonderful place.

We had a delightful "girl cousin" get together. It was so fun to enjoy a meal and visit with each other. It has been a long, long time since we have been together.

Our grandparents, Adam A. and Elvina Christensen Keller had 8 children. Their grand daughters are as follows:

Uncle Lionel's daughter Myrna lives in Mesa, Arizona. She was not able to come.

Velma, my mother, was next in age. Her daughters: Marla Atkinson, Blanding, Utah; Joyce Millet, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Marie Jolley, Providence, Utah.
(2570)

Aunt Mirtha's daughters: Maxine Child, Clinton, Utah; Jean Bailey, Fairview, Utah; and Anna Borup, Syracuse, Utah.
(2567)

Uncle Nathaniel's daughters: Kathy Hyde, Louise Moser, and Ann Hansen, all from Preston, Idaho.
(2569)

Aunt Marvel's daughter Beverly Harding was in Texas and not able to attend but Betty Jeanne snapped this photo for me. Thanks Betty Jeanne.

Uncle Glenn's daughter: Michelle Lundberg, Preston, Idaho.
(2568)

Aunt Helen's daughter: Betty Jean Moran, Wichita, Kansas.
(2565)

Uncle Leness's daughter: Holly Perkins, Sandy, Utah. Chalon could not attend.
(2566)

Doesn't this look like a fun group? Back row: Jean, Michelle, Ann, Louise, Holly, Kathy, Marla, Anna. Front Row: Betty Jeanne, Joyce, Marie, Maxine.
(2572)

Of course, we couldn't have this many hands without tying a quilt for some homeless person: "Made especially for you with love from the Keller cousins."

We are looking forward to getting together again next year.
We attended the Felix Hell Organ Concert. It was terrific. I have never heard the organ played with so much energy. He did so well.
1. Prelude and Fugue in E Minor, BWV 548 . . . . . . . . . . . J. S. Bach
2. Prelude, Fugue, and Variation . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Cesar Franck
3. Fantasy and Fugue on B-A-C-H . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Max Reger
4. Adagio for Strings . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Samuel Barber
5. Fantasy and Fugue on "Ad nos ad salutarem undam". . Franz Liszt

On the way home Elder Millet said, "That Felix played the organ like Hell."

It was fun to meet Felix Hell a world renouned organist from Germany. He will perform an organ recitle on Tuesday. He "pulled all the stops" and played for 2 hours without music. He began playing concerts at age 9. He is now 22.

We had a great time today at the Chico Stake reunion in Provo. It was great for Elder Millet to see so many old friends. Pictured are Darwin Simmons, Phil Wasden, and Elder Millet. They served in the Chico First Ward Bishopric together years ago.

They asked, "With hats or without." I said, "Without." It was amazing, Elder Millet had the most hair.

After "Music and the Spoken Word" today we were headed out for lunch before our afternoon assignment. As we passed the Mission Choir we decided to stay and listen for a minute and then I took a picture.

It was sort of like when you're lost - stop and hug a tree and then the person looking for you can find you.
(2545)

I was shocked when someone came up behind me and said, "Boo." What a surprise to see Ken and Darlene Adams and her brother Kelly.

Ken said they looked and looked for us and had about given up hope and suddenly there we were. Ken and Darlene are in town for a family reunion, funeral and wedding. It was great seeing them.

We have been having such fun taking pictures of our guests. It was delightful this morning to open an email from Kay Bensch and see a picture she had taken of us while we were serving at the Beehive House when she visited Salt Lake City with her daughter recently. What a treat. Thank you, Kay. We hope you come again and bring Stan.

We spent our P-day in Logan (because of blood pressure problems I went to see Dr. Stones) and got there just in time to see Chad and Tara's new baby - Emma Rose.

The look on Allison's face was priceless. Chad, Emma Rose, Marie, Allison, Janet.
(2538)

Marie is a very proud first time great-grandmother. It seems the older one gets the greater they become. What a beautiful little girl - and great-grandmother.

Four generations - Loriann, Tara, Marie and Emma Rose.
