We met the Henry family today at the temple: Esther, Rose Ann, Rose, Charles, Charlie, and Rachel. John is standing behind Rose and Charles. Charles is Elder Millet's uncle - his mother's brother. They live in Rigby. John's daughter Stephanie was married in the temple today. It was wonderful to see them.

Elder Millet and Charles Henry share the same birthday, June 20. Charles turned 17 the day Elder Millet was born.

Salt Lake is a truly amazing city. Everything is so clean. I was really impressed with this big vacuum truck that was getting all the stuff out of the drains along the street. We met a gentleman today whose job is to polish the statues on Temple Square and in the Salt Lake Cemetary - his full time job.

Today Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles spoke at our Mission Conference.

Elder Scott encouraged us to write the following: "Throughout the remainder of my life I will diligently seek to learn by what I see, hear, and feel. I will write down the inportant things I learn and I will do them." He said of seeing, hearing and feeling that feeling was most important and he encouraged us to write our feelings about what we hear and see.

Elder Scott talked about Alma 7:23. He encouraging the Sisters to respond with their thoughts about being humble, submissive, gentle, easy to be entreated, patient, long-suffering and temperate in all things. He encouraged us to be kind but to be firm in standing for what we believe.

Elder Scott illustrated seeking the Lord's will as a circle. As we ponder, decide, and pray the Lord's will is revealed to us as we continuously repeat the circle. In this way we do not remain as we are but become what the Lord would have us be.

Elder Scott spoke of the Apostolic mantle and bore testimony of the atonement of the Savior. He said the Savior understood the plan of our Father in Heaven and knew that his atonement must be carefully and perfectly done to compensate for the demands of justice. Mercy comes when we are obedient to the demands of the plan. Christ had to experience all the horrors and sufferings of the world in a perfectly clean mind and body. He asked, "How did the Father feel when Christ said, "My God, why hast thou forsaken me?"

Elder Scott bore his testimony, "Jesus Christ lives. His love is perfect. I know he lives, he is our Savior and Redeemer. I know of his love.

We felt of Elder Scott's love and felt the Spirit as he spoke and testified. We all had the opportunity to shake his hand. What a marvelous Mission Conference.

We are so blessed and fortunate to be part of the Temple Square Mission. We love being here and serving the Lord.

While in Utah President Bush spent about an hour with The First Presidency.



President George W. Bush visited Salt Lake City and his motorcade came right past our house. We caught the excitement in the following pictures.

This morning, our PDay, we found baracades all along 1st Avenue when we went to the temple. When we came home from shopping there were 2 tow trucks and we wondered what was happening. Since we do not have a TV or radio we are oblivious to what is going on.

Later in the day Elder Millet went out and asked a neighbor sitting on the side of the street what was up. She said, "President Bush is coming to Salt Lake and his motorcade will go up this street.

Wow! We got our lawn chair and camera and waited.

Police cars and motorcycle cops patroled the street for about an hour before President Bush's arrival.

Neighbors across the street tried to come out of their parking lot and the police was on them immediately. Two bikers came through and the cop turned on a dime and went after them. Another car came down the hill and the police forced him into the nearest parking lot.
